Varnish Cache 4.0 is out! The Varnish team is thrilled and has just celebrated with a sip of bubbly. We are happy to announce this release to our community and the world. It includes some awesome enhancements for all of you to enjoy!
Large objects can now be streamed faster
One of the major enhancements in this release is that Varnish Cache now includes full streaming support. The advantage for you is that it significantly cuts down delivery times for larger objects and decreases latency when accessing content through cache hierarchies. We can guarantee you’ll be loving this awesome enhancement and what it means for your website.
Introducing the security enhancements
Varnish Cache 4.0 introduces the option to set read-only parameters. Once up and running, the read-only parameters can not be changed through the command line interfaces. This reduces the likelihood of people successfully executing an escalation of privileges attack. The ability to include inline C code in the configuration file comes optional with Varnish Cache 4.0 with the default being disabled.
And all the other great stuff...
Worldwide celebrations!
It’s not only the Varnish team that brings out the bubbles to celebrate this milestone. April 29th we’ll be celebrating with you and the rest of the world. We’ve organised a number of community parties, click here to find the closest one for you to join. And for those of you that are unable to join the parties in person you can enjoy the parties in Oslo, Copenhagen and London via Google Hangout on Air. We hope you’ll be able to make it!
